The Family Chatter Box

Hooray! The Alsup web page is finally up and running. We want to showcase our families by updating members on family events, wellness, accomplishments, changes, brag stories, wishes that need to be fulfilled, and prayer requests. This site is an ongoing work in progress and eventually everyone will have access to make their own additions. However, at this time, all entries (including pictures and stories) can be forwarded to Tyneal, where I will upload them to the site www.alsupalley.blogspot.com.

NOTE: "Chatter Box" entries can be sent via computer to tntbuck@sptc.net or by mail to S. Simon at 5401 89th St, Lubbock Texas 79424. To make this process user friendly for EVERYONE, original photos will be scanned and returned in a timely manner.

Until the site is complete, please stay tuned to updated 2007 reunion information. You are welcome to comment, at any time, to any of the postings. All family members will be able to review your comments, questions, and loving remarks. To do this, please click on the "Comment" option on the bottom right-hand corner of each posting. Here you will have an option to comment at a "Google user," "your own internet account," or as "anonymous."

Posting-"Kassy won 'Grand Champion Pig' at the local stock show."

Example One: Angie can email the pictures of Kassy and her prize-winning hog, to me, along with a story to post on the blog site.

Save the Date

Can you believe that it has been a year and a half since our last family reunion? As the new year rolls around, it is time again to begin planning the 2007 Alsup Family Reunion. Please save the weekend dates of June 15th-17th for food, fun, and fellowship. Amidst the many location options, we decided to choose the geographical location in Texas that would offer the most for attendance and participation for ALL......Lubbock!

ACCOMMODATIONS:

Embassy Suites
5215 South Loop 289 79424
(806) 771-7000
** Red color denotes updates

There are 20 suites blocked for the event under Alsup Family Reunion. Each suites is discounted to $119.00 plus ($15.47 x 2 = taxes) for the weekend (either 1 King or 2 Queens, with a pull out sofa). The total number of rooms, bed size request, and smoking preference must be finalized by May 15, 2007 to receive this special family rate. Claire Jones is the contact in the sales department. All rooms have already been blocked, so to simplfy our reunion and reservation process - we have twisted the instructions somewhat. Going forward - contact Sam Simon with your room request and if possible, send the room payment est. $150.00 to me prior to May 15th. (Sam Simon - 5401 89th Street - Lubbock, TX 79424) ***This is the only way we can secure a special rate for a specific section of rooms. Your credit card will still be requested at "check in" ONLY for INCIDENTAL ROOM CHARGES during your stay. Therefore, all check out statements should "only" include any extra charges your family incurred over the week-end.

A complimentary cooked-to-order breakfast (for our entire family-even if you are staying off site) offers a variety of healthy, great tasting options. Also, a nightly Manager's Reception features a variety of cold beverages and warm conversation, signaling the beginning of a relaxing evening. Enjoy them in the atrium's that offer a tranquil place to unwind and socialize.

This hotel will be our base on Saturday and we will be using the Venetian Conference Room for a box lunch and Buffet Dinner @6:00. The Talent show and auction will immedialtely follow dinner. (we are still working on these details)

Note-Embassy Suites has been COMPLETLY REMODELED and is under NEW ownership. Superior standards have been guareenteed by the hotel and they have promised to provide an extremely statisfying stay for our family. (I know we had a few issue's several years ago. Clair Jones is aware of the terrible service and accomodations some of you suffered, but she is confident we will not experience any of those same issues) You may contact me at #325-665-2380 or 806-794-2092 if you have any questions or concerns. Sam

The Star Thrower

One day a man was walking along the beach
when he noticed a figure in the distance.
As he got closer, he realized the figure was that
of a boy picking something up and gently
throwing it into the ocean. Approaching the boy, he asked, "What are you doing?"
The youth replied, "Throwing starfish back into
the ocean. the sun is up and the tide is going
out. If I don't throw them back, they'll die."
"Son," the man said, "don't you realize there
are miles and miles of beach and hundreds of
starfish? You can't possibly make a difference!"
After listening politely, the boy bent down,
picked up another starfish, and threw it into
the surf. Then, smiling at the man, he said,
"I made a difference for that one."
