Family Reunion Devotional

Gracious and loving God, we gather here today to celebrate our common bond as descendants of the Alsup family. As we do so, we remember all those men and women who have gone before us, leaving us the treasured memories of their lives. We recall how blessed we are to be a part of this journey of life. May our time together be a source of joy and hope for each one here.

We come with our own story of life. We bring with us our joys and sorrows, our trials and our successes. We come here knowing that the bond of history and of blood unites us. If there are differences that divide us, we pray that we will set them aside this day and welcome each one who is with us. We join in celebrating all the blessings which our ancestors have left us.

God of life...we behold those who will carry on our family ancestry...Gift them with a great love of life...and deep faith...May they know the blessings of our ancestors...May they appreciate what has been handed down to them...Thank you for these your treasures...Amen!

Now that we are gathered at this reunion, let us remember how we are one. We have been given the people around us, let us give thanks, then for this great gift. Soon we will share in the food at this table, soon we'll be telling stories of old. As we remember all that's been given, we can be thankful for these gifts.

Carson Alsup - Lions, Ball boy, and Chocolate Pie....

So what do Lions, Ball boys, and Chocolate Pie have in common? Why of course...it is Carson Alsup!
This is Carson and Granny Chris at Carson's Gravette Lion's 5th grade basketball game.
Shoot em' up! Put em' up!

Carson was asked to be a "ball boy" for the Arkansas Razorback team. (By the way, I had a REALLY hard time typing this sentence, being I am a Texas Tech Alumni)

For Carson's birthday, Granny Chris treated him to homemade Chocolate pie. Yummmy!

Memory Lane

Many of you are interested in family genealogy. While the website is being developed, we hope to provide educational material regarding invaluable family history for all to share. To begin, we will post a dynamic article about our beloved family members who have passed and location of grave site. We would like to specially thank Chris, Dennis, and Danny for collecting history and photos during past road trips. We appreciate any and all who choose to contribute to this "Memory Lane" article.

Aunt Nona Poem

It's time for the family reunion.
Oh, how much we miss you.
The beautiful spirit showed in your face
And your laugh warmed us all the way through.

Of course, I've missed you all year long.
Didn't get my birthday dollar bill.
The mail held no newspaper clippings,
You medical questions are still.

Childhood memories flood my mind
Your memory will always stay.
At five, you took me to work with you
That's why I am a nurse today.

You loved pretty dishes, the color pink,
Full skirts flaring as you danced.
Church, peach pies and your wonderful boys
Stole your heart and kept you entranced.

You taught me the joy of living
Now and in Heaver far away.
I see you there, greeting your friends
And I know you'll greet me one day.

I wear your love 'round my shoulders
Like a shawl warming the cold winter through.
You never left, sweet aunt of mine,
As I walk each day with you.
